In 2013, the Philadelphia Water Department (PWD), Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC) and PA Environmental Council (PEC) partnered to create the Soak It Up Adoption program, an innovative grant program used to engage neighborhood stewardship of green stormwater infrastructure. One of the prototype projects rolled out by PWD was the stormwater management bump outs abutting the Queen Lane Reservoir property right here in East Falls. EFDC became an early sponsoring partner for the bump outs and has continued to promote rainbarrels, container gardening and other green infrastructure throughout East Falls.

Notably, EFDC has a history of supporting the development of green stormwater infrastructure. In 2007, we hosted a series of neighborhood charrettes to develop a Stormwater Management Plan for Midvale Avenue from Conrad Street to the River.
