As part of EFDC’s mission to support the East Falls commercial district, we work with local businesses and property owners to apply for grants and loans such as the Philadelphia Commerce Department’s Storefront Improvement Program. This program encourages renovations to commercial properties to make them more appealing to shoppers and increase their economic vitality and performance. The program reimburses owners of commercial buildings and businesses to 50% of the total cost of eligible improvements, for a maximum reimbursement of $10,000 for a single commercial property or $15,000 for a multiple address or corner business property. EFDC has assisted several area businesses in obtaining storefront matching grants and is currently working with other property owners who have expressed interest applying for funding.
