As part of our mission to strengthen East Falls’ profile as a neighborhood of choice with historic roots in the Schuylkill River Heritage Area, EFDC formed a committee of volunteers to create a signature event to promote the commercial district centered at Ridge and Midvale avenues.  The committee envisioned a neighborhood-centric event celebrating life along the Schuylkill River that, in the words of Honorary Co-Chairwoman Rev. Dr. Lorena Marshall-Blake, a member of the EFDC Board at the time, would be “like having the most amazing block party in the City.”

EFDC hosted the first annual Dance on the Falls Bridge in 2011. It featured live music and dance lessons, along with plenty of food and drink. The event was a hit and soon grew beyond its original neighborhood focus to become a yearly destination that attracted attendees from all over the city and surrounding communities.
